1. Lobe Piercing:

This is the most common and least painful piercing. The earlobe is a soft part with no cartilage, so the pain is minimal, often described as a slight pinch. Additionally, its healing time is quick, around 6 to 8 weeks, and it requires basic care such as cleaning the area with a saline solution twice a day. It’s perfect for those new to the world of piercings.

2. Helix Piercing:

The helix piercing, located in the upper part of the ear cartilage, hurts a little more than the lobe due to the rigidity of the cartilage. The pain is usually sharp for a few seconds but subsides quickly. Unlike the lobe, cartilage takes longer to heal, from 3 to 6 months, and there may be discomfort or redness during that time. It's important to avoid sleeping on that side of the ear to prevent irritation.

3. Tragus Piercing:

The tragus piercing is one of the most painful in the ear, as it perforates a thicker section of cartilage near the ear canal. Although the pain is more intense, it only lasts a few seconds. After the piercing, it's common to feel a slight pressure, and healing can take between 3 to 9 months. During this time, avoid using headphones or leaning on your ear to not interfere with the healing process.

How to prepare:

Before getting any piercing, make sure to research the studio and the piercer. Choose an experienced professional, especially for cartilage piercings like the helix or tragus. It’s also important to hydrate well and eat something light before your appointment to avoid dizziness. During the piercing, breathe deeply and stay calm to reduce pain and stress.

Post-piercing tips:

After the piercing, follow the piercer's recommended care instructions, which usually include cleaning the area with a saline solution twice a day. Avoid touching the area with dirty hands and do not change the jewelry until the piercing is completely healed. With proper preparation and correct care, the process will be much more manageable, and you'll enjoy your new piercing without problems.

Pain varies depending on the type of piercing and your personal tolerance, but with the necessary preparation and care, the process will be more manageable, and you'll be able to show off your new piercings with confidence.
